Kostya Tszyu is a Russian-born Australian boxer who became the undisputed light-welterweight champion of the world and one of the greatest boxers of his era. Born in Serov, Russia, he emigrated to Australia after the Soviet collapse and fought under the Australian flag, becoming one of the country's most beloved sporting heroes.

Born in Serov in the Ural region in 1969, Tszyu was a Soviet amateur champion before emigrating to Australia in 1992. His Australian career — defending the undisputed world title, beloved by Newcastle where he settled — is one of the great immigrant sporting stories. His son Tim and nephew Nikita both became professional boxers.
