Tracing the roots — Novosibirsk
Born in Novosibirsk in 1974 and trained from age five at the Novosibirsk Music School, Vengerov is a direct product of Russia's extraordinary tradition of violin pedagogy — the Siberian branch of the school that produced Heifetz and Milstein. His Israeli citizenship reflects his Jewish heritage and the broader pattern of Soviet-Jewish musicians who found dual homes in Israel and the West.
